Wood Products - Collins Hardwood
Kane Hardwood and Richwood Hardwood are divisions of Collins, a family-owned timber and sawmill business in continuous operation for over 160 years. A reputation for honesty, integrity, and environmental stewardship has propelled Collins in to the role as an industry leader.
It begins with our forests - hardwood and softwood - and every one certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the only certifying body endorsed by the major environmental organizations and the only one accepted by the Living Building Challenge and also accepted by the United States Green Building Council for LEED credits.
The 120,000-acre FSC-certified Collins Pennsylvania Forest produces many of the finest hardwoods in the world, including our highly sought-after Allegheny Black Cherry. Beginning with our state-of-the-art sawmill to our kilns, we turn out wood products known for their quality and consistency. From domestic and export hardwood, to dimension, to veneer and saw logs, our Kane Hardwood mill in Pennsylvania and our Richwood mill in West Virginia serve our customers by providing what they want, when they want it, at fair prices.
Quality products and environmental stewardship are not just words. When the industry was turning a blind eye to many of its practices, Collins stepped up and became the first privately-owned forest products company in the United States to be certified by the FSC and to adopt the principles of The Natural Step into all our manufacturing and office facilities. Those commitments to stewardship led to Collins to winning, among many others, the Presidential Award for Sustainable Development from President Bill Clinton, as well as feature stories on NBC Nightly News, in the Washington Post, Sierra Club Magazine, Business Ethics, and The Christian Science Monitor.
